About the position

The Host/Cashier is responsible for greeting restaurant patrons and answering phone calls, ensuring that guests are seated promptly and have a favorable dining experience. This position reports to the Venue Manager and involves various tasks to enhance guest satisfaction and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Ensure guest recognition by remembering names, faces, and information that makes each guest feel unique.
• Answer menu questions posed by patrons.
• Distribute the seating as equally as possible among all food servers.
• Receive cash from customers in payment for meals, operate cash register, make change, and issue receipts or tickets to customers.
• Read and record totals shown on cash register tape and verify against cash on hand.
• Pre-bus and full bus tables during peak periods as needed.
• Promote current casino events and programs and give guests directions to all casino areas.
• Resolve minor guest complaints in a manner consistent with departmental philosophy.
• Monitor dining room to ensure it is maintained and the floor is free of debris.
• Prepare sandwiches, coffee, pastries, and other menu items as required by some venues.
• Perform other responsibilities as may be assigned.

Requirements

• Speak, read, and write English.
• Handle cash responsibly.
• Calculate basic math functions as they relate to POS cash/credit transactions, cash reconciliation, and product inventory.
• 1+ years experience in a high-volume fine dining or casual restaurant.
