About the position

The Sales Estimator at Niles Steel Tank Company (NST) plays a crucial role in supporting both prospective and existing customers by preparing accurate estimates for various projects. This position is integral to the Sales and Engineering teams, requiring a thorough analysis of documents, blueprints, and project plans to ensure timely project completion. The Sales Estimator will report to the Sales Manager and collaborate closely with Engineering, Purchasing, and Operations teams to facilitate project success.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare product estimates for products sold
  • Communicate professionally with customers, representatives, and contractors
  • Create drawings for Sales and Engineering
  • Revise and update drawings as required
  • Create and revise Bill of Materials
  • Create and revise Project Packets as required
  • Assist the manufacturing floor on current projects and development work for manufacturing engineering projects
  • Provide assistance on facility upgrade designs

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in business or technical area preferred
  • At least two years of estimating experience of engineered to order process equipment required
  • Previous work experience in a Mechanical Design department or a shop fabrication facility preferred
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Planning skills and ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Decisive with a sense of urgency
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with MS Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience using data entry estimating
  • At least one year of CAD experience utilizing either Autodesk Products or AutoCAD design software
  • Familiarity with ASME or other code regulations required
  • Knowledge of metal fabrication environment preferred
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints preferred
  • Knowledge of material specifications preferred
