National Grid is hiring a Sales Engineer for our Customer Sales and Solutions team in Massachusetts. This hybrid role can be based at any of our MA locations. The Sales Engineer will be a key driver of our Company’s nation leading energy efficiency and building electrification programs for C&I customers helping them capitalize on opportunities to reduce energy usage and costs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology building science, or related discipline required
  • 1+ years of experience in electrification, energy efficiency, building systems and/or technical sales required
  • Valid driver’s license required

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineer (PE) preferred
  • Additional business, marketing, or sales training or education preferred
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM) preferred
  • Working knowledge of HVAC systems

Responsibilities

  • Identify, evaluate, and advance cost‑effective energy efficiency and electrification opportunities for C&I customers to drive energy savings and greenhouse gas reduction outcomes.
  • Apply expertise in HVAC systems, controls, building electrical infrastructure, and energy analysis while interpreting technical documents and ensuring compliance with codes and program requirements.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of building system interactions, emerging technologies, and the full lifecycle of electrification project sales and implementation.
  • Analyze project economics including cost-benefit and savings assessments for electrification and energy efficiency initiatives while ensuring program alignment.
  • Conduct site assessments and translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable recommendations and customer-facing insights.
  • Interpret and evaluate plans, specifications, contract documents, control drawings, equipment submittals, and applicable regulations with accuracy.
  • Serve as the primary technical liaison across customers, internal teams (sales, engineering, implementation), and external partners (contractors, vendors, program stakeholders).
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key market stakeholders in the building energy industry including building owners, operators, property managers, architects, engineers, contractors, public officials, and public interest groups.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with other Sponsors of Mass Save, also known as Program Administrators (PAs), including confirming processes between PAs are aligned with one another.
