About the position

Stamford Health is seeking a Full-Time Retail Sales Associate to provide exceptional customer service and support in the hospital's gift shop. This role involves merchandising, inventory control, and maintaining a welcoming environment for patients and visitors. The Retail Sales Associate will work closely with the Lead Retail Sales Specialist and the Director to ensure the shop operates smoothly and contributes positively to the hospital's healing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates outstanding customer service skills and ensures quality service excellence for clients.
  • Coordinates and performs computerized cash register sales transactions and cash management.
  • Assists the Director and Lead Retail Sales Specialist in all shop operations, ensuring supplies and equipment are managed according to best practices.
  • Provides sales coordination and problem resolution for floor customer service staff; performs direct sales and customer service as needed.
  • Allocates and schedules work within the area, ensuring all floor requirements are covered during operating hours.
  • Monitors sales through the cash register; resolves discrepancies, prepares, reconciles, and records cash receipts for deposit.
  • Coordinates shipping and/or delivery of merchandise to patients, guests, and staff.
  • Participates in the development and setup of on-floor sales promotion campaigns with the Volunteer Visual Merchandiser.
  • Monitors general housekeeping cleanliness within the area; ensures equipment and facilities remain in good repair.
  • Upholds and respects HIPAA laws regarding patient information and makes necessary judgments in accordance with hospital policies.
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining an overall pristine, neat, and positive environment in the gift shop.
  • Orders and maintains hospital supplies and documentation as needed for Gift Shop use.
  • Completes various projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Two or more years' experience preferably in a healthcare setting performing similar duties.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to work well with individuals at all organizational levels, particularly peers, team members, other departments, patients, and the community.
  • Superior verbal, organizational, and interpersonal skills required.
  • Knowledge of cash management principles and/or procedures.
  • Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems.
  • Knowledge of retail floor sales techniques.
  • Ability to foster collaborative relationships and work well under pressure.
  • Ability to organize and synthesize new information and prioritize tasks.
  • Possesses critical thinking, analytical skills, and flexibility.
  • Ability to multi-task and demonstrate sensitivity to customer needs and expectations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in retail sales or customer service in a healthcare environment.
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems.
