About the position

The Safety Manager at Big G Express, Inc. is responsible for providing day-to-day support to the Risk Compliance Department, focusing on the development and implementation of safety, risk management, and loss control programs. This role involves investigating safety-related events, ensuring compliance with FMCSA regulations, and maintaining accurate driver qualification files to promote a safe workplace for all employees.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a point of contact for FMCSA regulations, OSHA, and safety-related matters.
• Investigate and evaluate accidents, acting as a corrective action liaison to the Operations Department and drivers.
• Make recommendations based on performance metrics and develop safety awareness and prevention programs.
• Conduct statistical analysis of accidents and manage compliance logs on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis.
• Gather, organize, and analyze information to develop solutions for loss prevention and review Safety Reports to implement changes.
• Consult with Operations Management to identify unsafe behaviors and advise on corrective action plans.
• Oversee training programs and safety classes, ensuring they are conducted as designed by the Safety Department.
• Audit company facilities for compliance with Big G Express Safety Policies and procedures.
• Provide guidance to the professional driving fleet regarding safety regulations and policies.
• Perform OSHA audits at company facilities and ensure Drug and Alcohol Testing compliance with FMCSA and company policy.
• Promote good relations with internal and external customers by coaching employees on safety solutions.
• Handle on-call phone duties to ensure timely handling of safety matters.

Requirements

• 3-5 years of Safety or Transportation Management experience.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Class A CDL preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-motivated and able to work with minimal direction.
• Resourceful and creative; analytical with excellent organization and follow-through skills.
• Team player and problem solver.
