About the position

Good Shepherd Community Care, a community-based, mission-driven hospice and palliative care organization, is seeking a Russian-speaking Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join its expanding Home Care Aide team. This full-time position is based in Newton, MA, and requires weekend availability. The role involves providing care in patients' private homes and residential facilities across Greater Boston and parts of Metrowest, necessitating reliable transportation for travel. As a CNA, you will be an integral part of an interdisciplinary hospice team, responsible for delivering comprehensive, consistent, and quality care for patients at the end of life. Your duties will include assisting with daily hygiene, ambulation, exercise, toileting, nutritional support, dressing changes, and other activities as designated by the hospice nurse. This position is eligible for a $2000 sign-on bonus, reflecting our commitment to attracting dedicated professionals to our team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive care for patients at the end of life as part of an interdisciplinary hospice team.
  • Assist patients with daily hygiene, ambulation, exercise, and toileting.
  • Support patients with nutritional needs and dressing changes as directed by the hospice nurse.
  • Travel to patients' private homes and residential facilities in Greater Boston and parts of Metrowest to provide care.
  • Maintain clear communication with patients, families, and team members to ensure quality care.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills.

Requirements

  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in Massachusetts with a minimum of 75 hours of clinical study, including classroom training and at least 16 hours of supervised practical training.
  • Fluency in Russian to effectively communicate with patients and families.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to manage patient care effectively.
  • Strong communication skills to interact clearly with patients and team members.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in hospice, palliative, or oncology care is a plus.
