About the position

The Rockdale County Agriculture & Natural Resources Agent will serve as a local expert in agricultural and natural resource issues, providing research-based information and education to the community. This role involves engaging with the public to improve quality of life through various programs, including soil and water testing, safe pesticide use, and family wellness initiatives. The agent will also coordinate youth programs such as 4-H, fostering leadership skills and community involvement among young Georgians.

Responsibilities

  • Provide research-based agricultural information to the community.
  • Conduct soil and water tests and provide guidance on results.
  • Advise on safe pesticide use and agricultural best practices.
  • Develop and deliver educational programs on family wellness and life skills.
  • Coordinate and promote 4-H youth programs and activities.
  • Engage with local stakeholders to address agricultural and natural resource issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Natural Resources, or a related field.
  • Experience in community engagement and education.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Experience with youth programs, particularly 4-H.
  • Knowledge of local agricultural practices and issues.
