About the position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in Urgent Care at Hudson Headwaters Health Network is responsible for delivering comprehensive patient care in a fast-paced environment. This full-time position requires the RN to utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care while adhering to the organization's core values. The role involves collaboration with healthcare teams to enhance patient experiences and ensure quality care delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a resource for nursing standards, competencies, policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with staff and other departments to improve quality of care and patient experience.
  • Utilize data to meet care coordination needs across settings with patients and families.
  • Provide safe, ethical, patient-centered, culturally congruent, and evidence-based care.
  • Adhere to infection control policies and protocols to protect patients and employees.
  • Prepare patients for encounters by following established protocols.
  • Demonstrate competence in clinical skills and medication management processes.
  • Reconcile medication lists and prepare prescription renewals.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
  • Respond to patient phone calls using symptom-based policies and protocols.
  • Triage walk-in patients and assist with medical emergencies.
  • Initiate patient and family education plans that meet patient needs.
  • Perform ordered point of care testing and proper documentation.
  • Assist with patient encounter flow and troubleshoot issues with supervisors.
  • Provide direction to LPNs and Medical Assistants.
  • Mentor new and incumbent staff based on skill set.
  • Attend meetings and serve on various organization committees.
  • Assist with compliance and staff development duties.
  • Complete assigned health center tasks and ensure operation of medical equipment.

Requirements

  • Unrestricted current RN license to practice nursing in New York State.
  • A.A.S. degree or higher from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Minimum of one-year Registered Nurse clinical experience preferred.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications and electronic medical records.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
