The RN Unit Manager provides primary skin and wound care to residents in accordance with physician orders, current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, the facility’s established policies and procedures and written plans of care. This role involves identifying, managing, and treating specific skin conditions, providing wound care, completing thorough wound assessments, coordinating treatment with wound providers, and conferring with the care plan team. The position also includes documenting resident care, monitoring preventive measures, educating residents and representatives, providing status reports, attending continuing education, obtaining physician orders, administering medication, and assisting with discharge planning. Additionally, the RN Unit Manager performs administrative duties, serves on committees, assists with resident admissions and discharges, treats residents with dignity and respect, establishes a culture of compliance, follows safety and hygiene measures, maintains confidentiality, and reports noncompliance or allegations of abuse. The role requires participation in life safety and emergency drills, reporting work-related injuries, following infection control policies, and completing assigned training. The ability to work with individuals exhibiting challenging behaviors is also necessary.
