About The Position

The RN – Surgical Unit will provide high-quality nursing care within a Surgical Short Stay Unit (SSU), primarily caring for post-operative and orthopedic surgical patients. The role requires strong clinical judgment and the ability to manage patients recovering from joint, hip, neck, and back surgeries in a fast-paced acute care environment.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of recent SSU surgical nursing experience required
• Experience with orthopedic surgical cases required
• Strong surgical and post-operative patient care skills required
• Excellent clinical judgment and critical thinking required
• Ability to work in a fast-paced acute care setting required
• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing required
• Active RN License required
• BLS Certification required

Nice To Haves

• BSN preferred
• ACLS Certification preferred
• Orthopedic/surgical certifications preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to surgical and post-operative patients
• Perform comprehensive assessments and monitor recovery progress
• Administer medications and treatments per physician orders
• Monitor for post-surgical complications and changes in condition
• Collaborate with surgeons and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
• Maintain accurate patient documentation
• Educate patients and families on post-operative care and recovery
• Ensure compliance with safety and infection control standards
• Deliver high-quality care with minimal supervision
