Cleveland Clinic’s Gynecology/Urology OR is committed to providing world-class care for women of all ages. As an RN in this unit, you will ensure patients are prepped, prepared and comfortable before, during and after surgical procedures. Your compassion can make all the difference in their overall experience and offer comfort during often distressing times. A caregiver in this position works Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m., with on-call responsibilities requiring arrival on campus within one hour when on call. This schedule begins after the initial six-month orientation period, during which the hours are 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing (Diploma, ADN, BSN)
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certifications through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
Successfully pass all prescreen competency assessments
If performing moderate/procedural sedation, must have Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of hire
One year RN experience OR completion of Cleveland Clinic perioperative residency program

Responsibilities

Deliver professional nursing care in an operative setting to adult and pediatric patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures.
Perform scrub functions, such as selecting and handling instruments and supplies.
Performing circulating functions, such as monitoring, recording and communicating patient conditions and managing the overall nursing care of patients before, during and after the procedure.
Assist the operating physician with surgical tasks, such as hemostasis, suturing, wound exposure and patient positioning.
Prepare the operating room, surgical instruments and surgical equipment for use.
