About the position

The RN Supervisor at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital is responsible for coordinating clinical activities in the acute care setting during evening, night, weekend, and holiday shifts. This role provides clinical leadership to nursing staff, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care across all age groups. The RN Supervisor collaborates with various nursing and clinical leaders to monitor staffing levels and manage emergency situations, while also supporting the professional development of nursing staff through mentorship and guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate clinical activities throughout the acute care setting during evening, night, weekend, and holiday shifts.
  • Provide clinical leadership and assistance to nurses in planning, organizing, evaluating, and delivering nursing care.
  • Consult with unit nursing staff to ensure integration and consistency of services for patients and families.
  • Collaborate with Nurse Managers and off-site Clinical Leaders to monitor and adjust staffing levels based on patient acuities.
  • Support nurses in managing emergency clinical and administrative situations according to established policies and protocols.
  • Facilitate competency assessments and staff development needs for nursing staff on shifts and weekends.
  • Provide nursing leadership support and guidelines through networking, mentoring, and role modeling professional nursing practice.
  • Participate in nursing leadership committees, seminars, and problem-solving groups to enhance patient care delivery.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved school of Registered Professional Nursing.
  • Current NYS License to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse.
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications required during clinical orientation.
  • 3 years of acute care experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • 1 year of leadership experience at the Charge Nurse level.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple clinical events effectively.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to interact positively with healthcare team members.

Nice-to-haves

  • BSN preferred.
  • Critical care experience preferred.
  • 1 year of experience in the Health System preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products and electronic medical records.
