About The Position

Navitas Healthcare, LLC is seeking an RN Stepdown - Cardio for an exciting Travel or Local job in Cincinnati, OH. This is a contract position for 8 weeks, requiring night shifts for 36 hours per week, with 12-hour shifts and every other weekend work. The role involves providing direct nursing care for adult stepdown patients with cardiac and pulmonary conditions, including monitoring and managing patients with acute MI, CHF, arrhythmias, and cardiomyopathy. The position also requires care for ventilator-dependent and non-invasive ventilation patients, continuous cardiac monitoring and telemetry interpretation, medication administration, central line care, neurological assessments (including NIH Stroke Scale), assisting with diagnostic procedures, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams. Maintaining accurate documentation and upholding patient confidentiality are essential. The role adheres to the ANA Code of Ethics and Ohio Nurse Practice Act.

Requirements

  • Active Ohio RN License or Compact State RN License
  • BLS Certification (American Heart Association)
  • ACLS Certification (American Heart Association)
  • Minimum Diploma in Nursing (BSN preferred)
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to manage complex medical stepdown patients
  • Competency in cardiac monitoring and telemetry interpretation
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in cardiac stepdown, ICU, or telemetry units preferred
  • Experience with ventilated or respiratory-compromised patients preferred
  • Experience in stroke-certified units preferred
  • Strong communication and interdisciplinary teamwork skills
  • Ability to adapt in a culturally diverse healthcare setting

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care for adult stepdown patients with cardiac and pulmonary conditions
  • Monitor and manage patients with acute MI, CHF, arrhythmias, and cardiomyopathy
  • Care for ventilator-dependent and non-invasive ventilation patients (BiPAP/CPAP/APAP)
  • Perform continuous cardiac monitoring and interpret telemetry data
  • Administer medications, IV infusions, blood transfusions, and injections
  • Provide central line care and maintenance
  • Conduct neurological assessments including NIH Stroke Scale (stroke unit requirement)
  • Assist with diagnostic procedures such as 12-lead EKGs and point-of-care glucose testing
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physicians and respiratory therapists
  • Educate patients and families on disease management and discharge planning
  • Maintain accurate documentation and uphold patient confidentiality standards
  • Adhere to ANA Code of Ethics and Ohio Nurse Practice Act
