About the position
The RN Registered Nurse - Med/Surg position at Ochsner Baptist involves providing patient care using the nursing process while adhering to the Nurse Practice Act and ANA Code for Nurses. The role requires effective delegation, accountability for patient outcomes, and sensitivity to diverse patient needs. The nurse will work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to achieve optimal patient care and support the strategic goals of the department.
Responsibilities
- Effectively uses the nursing process in the delivery of patient care.
- Assesses learning needs and implements teaching strategies appropriate for diverse patient needs.
- Communicates, delegates, and manages nursing team resources effectively.
- Uses data and knowledge to evaluate and promote change for optimal outcomes.
- Enhances customer satisfaction and employee morale in nursing.
- Adapts behavior to respect patient privacy and communication styles.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Requirements
- Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
