About the position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the ICU at Adventist Health is responsible for delivering coordinated nursing care to patients in a critical care environment. This per diem position requires the nurse to supervise and direct nursing staff, collaborate with healthcare teams, and utilize critical thinking and independent judgment to ensure high standards of patient care are met.

Responsibilities

• Deliver coordinated nursing care for patients according to established standards of care.
• Supervise and direct the activities of various levels of assigned nursing staff.
• Coordinate care with other disciplines while utilizing critical thinking and professional discretion.
• Collect and analyze relevant data pertinent to the patient's health.
• Develop and implement care plans to attain desired outcomes.
• Evaluate patient progress and adjust care plans as necessary.
• Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare providers to provide safe and effective care.
• Provide learning opportunities for patients and families.
• Participate in discharge planning to ensure continuity of care.
• Delegate appropriately and coordinate duties of healthcare team members.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Acute care facility experience preferred.
• Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice required.
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required.
