About the position
The RN Registered Nurse in the ICU Neonatal unit at CHRISTUS Health is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to critically ill neonates. This role involves utilizing the nursing process to assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate care for assigned patients, while also addressing their complex psychological, emotional, and social needs. The nurse will work independently and collaboratively within a healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
- Administer medications and treatments according to protocols, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness.
- Document patient history, symptoms, medication, and care provided.
- Assess learning needs and provide education to patients and families.
- Plan, direct, and evaluate nursing care and functions in the unit during assigned shifts.
- Incorporate patient safety practices to promote a safe environment and positive patient outcomes.
- Participate in departmental staffing needs and resource efforts.
Requirements
- 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
- RN License in state of employment or compact.
- BLS certification required.
- Current STABLE certification at time of hire or within 90 days for new graduates.
- Current NRP certification at time of hire or within 60 days for new graduates.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in a Perinatal Setting is preferred.
- Completion of a Perinatal RN Residency is preferred.
