About the position
We are Hiring at Jewish Hospital, located at 200 Abraham Flexner Way Louisville, KY 40202. The position is for a Registered Nurse in the 4West (Pulmonary Intermediate) unit, which is a 20-bed unit providing specialized nursing care for adult patients with complications of chronic respiratory diseases such as cystic fibrosis, tracheotomy, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary emphysema, and pulmonary fibrosis. The shift options available are part-time from 7 AM to 7 PM. Jewish Hospital is part of UofL Health and is recognized for its high-tech tertiary care, including advancements in heart and lung care, organ transplantation, and outpatient care. The hospital has a history of pioneering medical procedures and continues to be a leader in specialized heart care.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Utilize the nursing process and nursing practice standards to deliver care to patients of varying age groups.
- Intervene to achieve safe, optimal patient and family-centered care health outcomes.
- Coordinate patient care and communicate effectively with the Care Team.
- Develop professionally as a lifelong learner and evaluate care based on evidence and patient safety goals.
- Demonstrate competency in caring for complex patients and participate in the Care Team to improve the quality of care.
Requirements
- KY RN license required for experienced BSN and ADN candidates.
- Current AHA certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Specific clinical areas may require additional experience or certifications such as ACLS, PALS, or others as identified.
- A minimum of an Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program is required.
- BSN preferred; all new-hire Associate Degree Registered Nurses must start an approved BSN program within one year of hire and complete it within three years of hire.
- Candidates with a BSN should have a minimum of one year of hospital patient care experience preferred.
Nice-to-haves
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program is preferred.
- Experience in a hospital setting.
