About the position

The RN in the Procedural Care Float Pool at UnityPoint Health is responsible for delivering safe and reliable patient care in collaboration with the healthcare team. This role involves executing the nursing process, which includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care. The RN will work with a diverse patient population and is expected to utilize specialized knowledge and critical thinking skills to provide high-quality care.

Responsibilities

• Assumes primary responsibility for the plan of care for a patient or group of patients, per unit standards.
• Effectively delegates tasks and responsibilities to other healthcare team members and follows up on care provided.
• Performs admission assessments including patient history, physical, and psycho-social assessments.
• Utilizes assessment data and diagnostic information to formulate nursing diagnoses and identify goals of care.
• Develops a mutually established plan of care with the patient and family, reviewing priorities each shift.
• Implements the plan of care according to current nursing standards and hospital protocols.
• Integrates a multidisciplinary approach to maintain patient comfort and safety.
• Administers medications and nursing treatments within the scope of practice.
• Incorporates patient education throughout the hospitalization, including pre- and post-operative procedures.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program
• Possess current RN licensure in the State of Iowa or compact state
• Current BLS certification
• Fluent in English, with the ability to read, write, comprehend, and speak
• Demonstrates proficiency in manual skills and techniques for nursing procedures
• Ability to complete a basic computer course on the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
