About the position
The RN position involves partnering with residents and other care providers to create a safe and comfortable therapeutic environment. The role includes providing both direct and indirect care in specialized units catering to residents with Alzheimer's/dementia and those requiring transitional rehabilitation. The RN will utilize effective communication techniques and understand the unique behaviors associated with dementia, ensuring that residents receive the necessary long-term and short-term care in a home-like setting.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct and indirect nursing care to residents.
- Utilize verbal and non-verbal communication techniques with residents.
- Understand and manage difficult behaviors associated with Alzheimer's/dementia.
- Administer IV therapy and wound care as needed.
- Conduct geriatric assessments and management.
- Collaborate with a team of care providers to ensure quality care.
- Float to other units as needed based on staffing requirements.
Requirements
- Associates degree in Nursing.
- Valid State of Maine or compact RN license.
- 1-3 years of previous RN experience preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Nice-to-haves
- Flexibility to cover shifts 24/7 as needed.
- Ability to float to other units as required.
