This is a Casual (0.0 FTE) position with 8-hour day/evening shifts, typically from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. Casual employees must pick up at least two shifts per month. The specialty area is Diagnostic Services, including stress testing, Cardiac CT, procedures like drains, biopsies, Thora’s, PICC’s and Midlines, and Zio monitor placements. A minimum of 2+ years of diagnostic services RN experience is required, OR 2+ years in a Cardiovascular unit or acute setting including ED, ICU, or critical care experience. Current competency in moderate sedation, strong EKG (12 lead) reading/interpretation skills, and strong assessment and excellent IV skills are required. Difficult Vascular Access with ultrasound skills are preferred.

Requirements

2+ years diagnostic services RN experience required OR 2+ years in Cardiovascular unit or acute setting including ED, or ICU or critical experience required
Current competency in moderate sedation
Strong EKG (12 lead) reading/interpretation skills
Strong assessment and excellent IV skills
Associate's or Vocational degree
0 to 2 years critical care RN experience
Licensed Registered Nurse – MN Board of Nursing required if working in state of MN upon hire / WI Department of Safety & Professional Services required if working in the state of WI upon hire
Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association OR Current BLS certification from the American Red Cross OR Allina in-house BLS training (within 30 days of hire)
ACLS/BLS Tier 2-Advanced Cardiac Life Support - Allina Health required by completion of orientation

Responsibilities

Comprehensive assessment of patient and family needs; identification of outcomes based on needs assessment; establishing the plan of care; supervising the progress; and modification of the plan of care as needed.
Maintains education and competencies to remain proficient to provide high quality patient care practice and skills.
Incorporates evidence-based nursing practice taking into consideration current statutes, rules and regulations when developing the plan of care.
Establishes, in the collaboration with the family and patient, realistic and measurable patient expected outcomes based on nursing diagnoses, patients present and potential capabilities, goals, available resources and plan for continuity of care.
Identifies outcomes that are age appropriate, culturally appropriate, realistic and attainable.
Coordinates, collaborates, and delegates appropriately to ensure care is provided in a safe, effective fashion.
Fulfills all organizational requirements.
Demonstrates ability to coordinate, delegate, and direct unit operation, collaborates effectively with unit staff, leadership and other disciplines (Supplemental role: Charge Nurse).
Demonstrates ability to identify the orientee's learning needs, plans appropriate learning experiences and demonstrates ability to validate clinical competence of orientee (Supplemental role: Preceptor).
