About the position

The Clinical Nurse at Yale New Haven Health System (YNHHS) plays a vital role in patient care as part of the care delivery team. This position focuses on utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, intervene, and evaluate patient care while ensuring confidentiality and dignity. The Clinical Nurse is responsible for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to achieve positive patient outcomes and is accountable to patients, families, and peers. The role emphasizes patient and family-centered care, service excellence, and maintaining a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation while caring for patients.
  • Provides safe, effective, evidence-based care tailored to individual patient and family needs.
  • Demonstrates a holistic and caring approach throughout the nurse-patient relationship.
  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members to support unit activities and positive patient outcomes.
  • Delegates responsibilities to appropriate team members based on their roles and capabilities.
  • Completes competency-based orientation within the designated time frame.
  • Communicates professionally with patients, families, and colleagues, and works towards resolving issues.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Currently licensed and registered nurse in the State of Connecticut.
  • Current BCLS certification or must obtain within one month of hire.
  • Minimum of one year of acute care experience as an RN prior to the start of the program.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, coordinative, and organizational skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • BSN strongly preferred or enrolled in a BSN program.
