About the position

As a Seasonal RN at Baylor University Medical Center (BUMC), you will align with our nursing model, manage patient care, evaluate, recognize, create, and implement care plans. Monitoring patient progress is vital, and your knowledge will help patients navigate the healthcare system safely, reducing complications. You will use your expertise to understand patient needs and the healthcare environment. The unit specializes in Internal Medicine/Medicine Telemetry, serving a diverse patient population including Nephrology, Hepatology, Endocrinology, Geriatrics, Gastrointestinal, and Cardiac patients. The patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:4, and the unit has 31 beds. This dynamic and fast-paced environment encourages teamwork among physicians, nursing staff, therapy staff, social work, and various consulting disciplines to provide comprehensive care for our patients.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough assessments following practice standards using good judgment and clinical reasoning.
  • Identify patient and family needs, then develop, implement, and evaluate nursing care plans accordingly, making adjustments as needed.
  • Create safe, therapeutic environments for patients, families, and staff.
  • Manage emotional and physical pain to promote recovery and prevent unnecessary suffering.

Requirements

  • A degree from a recognized nursing program or two years of relevant work experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years Med/Surg/Tele RN experience.
  • A valid Registered Nurse license.
  • The ability to obtain a Basic Life Support certification within the first 30 days of employment.
