About The Position

A medical center in Savannah, Georgia is seeking an experienced RN Manager – Labor & Delivery to join its Women’s Services leadership team. This hospital serves more than 35 counties across southeast Georgia and southern South Carolina and is recognized as a regional referral center for trauma care, heart care, cancer services, pediatric services, and high-risk obstetrics and neonatal care. The facility includes the region’s only Level I Trauma Center and comprehensive children’s hospital, along with an academic partnership supporting medical education and advanced clinical practice. The RN Manager of Labor & Delivery is responsible for planning, organizing, staffing, and directing unit operations to ensure high-quality, patient-centered maternal care. In collaboration with the Women’s Services leadership team, the Manager will support the development and implementation of policies, procedures, staffing strategies, and quality initiatives to promote safe, efficient, and compassionate care for mothers and newborns. This position requires strong, hands-on Labor & Delivery leadership experience with demonstrated supervisory capability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required
  • Current Registered Nurse license (Georgia or Compact/Multi-State)
  • BLS certification (AHA or American Red Cross)
  • ACLS certification (AHA or American Red Cross)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) required
  • Minimum 3+ years of RN experience in Labor & Delivery required
  • Leadership or supervisory experience required

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree preferred
  • Proven Labor & Delivery leadership skills strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Ensure evidence-based maternal and newborn care practices.
  • Promote patient safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor and improve clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction.
  • Support high-risk obstetric care delivery in collaboration with physicians and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Oversee daily unit operations, staffing, and scheduling.
  • Maintain appropriate staffing ratios and productivity standards.
  • Manage patient throughput from triage through delivery and recovery.
  • Participate in budget oversight and resource management.
  • Directly supervise RNs, CNAs, and support staff.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Foster a collaborative, team-oriented culture.
  • Support staff engagement and professional development.
  • Partner with the Director of Women’s Services on department initiatives.
  • Support ongoing program development and service excellence.
  • Maintain strong physician relationships within OB and anesthesia teams.
