About the position
UofL Hospital, a 404-bed academic teaching and research hospital located in downtown Louisville, is seeking to hire Registered Nurses for the Obstetrics department. The hospital is known for its exceptional cancer center, trauma team, and stroke center, and is the only adult Level I Trauma Center in the region, featuring the only dedicated burn center in Kentucky. UofL Hospital is a designated Baby-Friendly birthing facility, recognized for providing optimal care for infant feeding and mother/baby bonding. The Center for Women & Infants at UofL Hospital is the only facility in downtown Louisville to earn this designation, and the hospital proudly received magnet designation in fall 2022. The mission of UofL Hospital is to transform the health of the communities served through compassionate, innovative, patient-centered care.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization.
- Focus on areas including Mother Baby, Newborn Care, Antenatal patients, and GYN.
Requirements
- Active Kentucky registered nurse license or compact license with privileges to work in Kentucky
- Associate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university
- Basic Life Support (BLS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Participation in the nurse residency program for new graduate RNs, completing all required activities
- New-hire Associate degree registered nurses must start an approved BSN program within one year of hire and complete it within three years
- 2 years of nursing experience in this specialty area
Nice-to-haves
- Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification for experienced RNs
