About the position

The Endoscopy Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing high-quality patient care in the Endoscopy department, collaborating with physicians and nursing staff. This role involves implementing the nursing process, advocating for patients during procedures, and ensuring compliance with established standards and practices. The RN must be licensed in Louisiana and is encouraged to participate in professional organizations. Physical stamina is required, as the position involves standing for long periods and lifting patients.

Responsibilities

• Provides quality patient care as outlined in the SGNA Standards and Guidelines and department policies.
• Monitors compliance with established standards and procedures for Endoscopy technicians and other personnel.
• Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development principles to provide age-appropriate care.
• Responsible for the delivery and documentation of patient care before, during, and after procedures.
• Assists in the orientation of new employees and ensures skills are current through educational programs.
• Assists department coordinators in maintaining policies and procedures and scheduling assignments.
• Utilizes supplies cost-effectively and monitors inventory levels.
• Maintains a safe environment by adhering to safety principles and infection control guidelines.
• Participates in departmental fire and disaster drills and documents nursing care activities.
• Assists in identifying patient-related problem areas for quality review and monitors compliance with quality indicators.
• Attends committee meetings and in-service programs, participating in departmental staff meetings.
• Adheres to hospital policies and procedures, including attendance and dress code.
• Demonstrates good interpersonal relationships and accepts constructive criticism.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Currently licensed to practice professional nursing in Louisiana.
• Previous Endoscopy Room experience preferred.
• Good physical health and ability to stand for long periods.
• Motor coordination and manual dexterity are necessary.
