About the position

Great opportunity for Registered Nurse (RN) looking to join a high-level professional team in a Level One Emergency Department. Baylor Scott & White Memorial Hospital is a 636-bed specialty care teaching hospital and the only Level 1 Trauma Center between Dallas and Austin. The Emergency department primarily cares for adult populations, but we do care for pediatric patients as needed. Registered Nurses (RN) can be involved in Improvement projects, Shared Governance, department committees and councils. Everyone's voice matters.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed clinical assessments, prioritize patient and family needs, create, implement, and evaluate care plans.
  • Build relationships, manage discomfort, and maintain professionalism in therapeutic connections with patients and families.
  • Create care plans reflecting values to aid in resolving issues.
  • Educate patients, families, nurses, and community members to empower them with knowledge for better healthcare choices.
  • Work with colleagues and community to create a care plan, delegate tasks carefully, and follow up promptly.
  • Use different strategies for problem-solving with patients, families, and staff.
  • Recognize limitations and prioritize safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in patient care planning and delivery.
  • Achieve goals through teamwork, recognize contributions, and commit to growth.
  • Contribute to peers' development and show community service commitment.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an Accredited Program in nursing.
  • Current and valid nursing license.
  • Must have BLS certification or obtain it within 30 days of starting in this role.
  • Deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards, as well as procedures.
  • Knowledge of nursing laws, rules, standards, and guidelines in the area.
  • Proficiency in medical terms, focusing on health, disease prevention, management, common medications, and their side effects.
  • Respect for medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Positive social skills to facilitate interactions with a diverse range of parties.
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities and effective critical thinking.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.
