Job Summary The RN Coordinator/Specialist – Trauma is responsible for coordinating clinical care and trauma program operations in collaboration with the trauma team, emergency services, surgical staff, and hospital leadership. This role ensures quality care delivery to trauma patients, supports trauma registry and performance improvement activities, and facilitates compliance with state and national trauma designation standards.

Requirements

  • RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure in state of practice Upon Hire (Required)
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire (Required)
  • 2+ years acute care nursing experience with trauma patient care (Required)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in nursing (Preferred)
  • Master’s Degree in nursing, healthcare management or administration (Preferred)
  • ATLS - Advanced Trauma Life Support Upon Hire (May be Required-Facility Specific)
  • TNCC - Trauma Nursing Core Course Upon Hire (May be Required-Facility Specific)
  • Prior Experience in care coordination, quality improvement, or clinical leadership (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate trauma patient care activities across emergency, surgical, and inpatient units.
  • Collaborate with trauma physicians, emergency department staff, and nursing teams to implement trauma protocols.
  • Participate in trauma rounds, case reviews, and care conferences.
  • Serve as a resource for trauma clinical standards, documentation practices, and regulatory compliance.
  • Support trauma registry abstraction, data accuracy, and documentation for trauma designation compliance.
  • Assist in preparing for trauma surveys and accreditation processes.
  • Provide trauma education and support staff development through training initiatives.
  • Promote quality improvement by monitoring outcomes and supporting corrective actions as needed.
  • Document trauma coordination activities in the EMR and quality systems.
