About the position

The Charge Nurse is responsible for providing direct nursing care to residents and supervising the daily activities of nursing assistants. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while maintaining high-quality care standards as directed by the Director of Nursing Services or Nurse Supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to residents.
  • Supervise day-to-day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local standards and regulations.
  • Maintain the highest degree of quality care at all times.
  • Plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret nursing programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff regarding resident conditions.
  • Handle difficult residents with patience and tact.

Requirements

  • Must possess a Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university or be a graduate of an approved LPN/LVN program.
  • Must have a current, unencumbered RN or LPN/LVN license in the state.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Ability to make independent decisions when necessary.
  • Knowledge of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as relevant laws and regulations.
  • Leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Ability to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in long-term care settings.
  • Knowledge of current nursing practices and principles.
