About the position
We are Hiring at UofL Hospital's 5 South Surgical Oncology unit. 5 South is a 16-bed complex surgical oncology unit caring for complex pre- and post-operative surgical oncology and plastics patients. This unit has all private rooms. UofL Hospital, a 404-bed academic teaching and research hospital, is at the heart of the Louisville Metro area in downtown Louisville. UofL Hospital offers a second-to-none cancer center, world-renowned trauma team and a uniquely streamlined, nationally accredited stroke center-the latest innovations in a history of world-class care. UofL Hospital is the only adult Level I Trauma Center in the region, which includes the only dedicated burn center in Kentucky. As an academic health care system, we will transform the health of the communities we serve through compassionate, innovative, patient-centered care.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization.
Requirements
- Active Kentucky registered nurse license or compact license with privileges to work in Kentucky
- Associate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university
- Basic Life Support (BLS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Participation in the nurse residency program for all new graduate RNs and successful completion of all activities as required
- New-hire Associate degree registered nurses (new graduate and experienced) are required to start an approved BSN program within one (1) year of hire and complete an approved BSN program within three (3) years of hire.
Nice-to-haves
- Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university
- One (1) year of patient care experience in specialty area
