About The Position

Southern Industrial Constructors, Inc. seeks a Rigging Foreman for a project in Durham, NC. Hired candidates will be considered for Benefits/Paid Time Off after 3-months. This role involves supervising and coordinating activities of workers engaged in erecting and operating machines to hoist and convey machinery and equipment. The foreman will display crew leadership, specify locations for movement and erection of derricks, hoists, and cranes, and direct workers in splicing ropes and metal cables to form hoisting slings. The position requires interpreting specifications, blueprints, and job orders, maintaining time records, enforcing safety regulations, and establishing work sequences to meet construction schedules. The foreman will also estimate worker-hour requirements, analyze and resolve work problems, coordinate equipment and material movement, and perform frequent safety inspections.

Requirements

  • Rigger Journey level minimum of 4+ years of experience.
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Must be able to effectively use all required PPE equipment and lift up to fifty pounds.
  • Must be able to safely access all areas of property, buildings, structures, wharves, rooftops and other elevated positions, as well as, confined spaces.
  • Strenuous physical demands are required to safely perform the essential functions associated with this position.
  • Must be able to safely operate all involved equipment and tools.
  • Must be capable of standing for long periods of time, bending consistently, working in confined spaces with limited access, on ladders, in personnel lifts, in workboats, and working in awkward body positions.
  • Regular attendance is required.
  • Significant travel may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in erecting and operating machines to hoist and convey machinery and equipment.
  • Displays crew leadership.
  • Specify locations for movement and erection of derricks, hoists, and cranes, using knowledge of various methods of sliding and lifting equipment.
  • Direct workers engaged in splicing ropes and metal cables to form hoisting slings.
  • Supervise and coordinates activities of assigned craft workers.
  • Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders as needed for area of supervision.
  • Maintains time records.
  • Interpret company policies to workers, and enforces safety regulations.
  • Establish and adjusts work sequences to meet construction schedule, using knowledge of capacities of equipment and assigned personnel.
  • Study schedules and estimate worker-hour requirements for completion of job.
  • Analyze and resolve work problems.
  • Coordinate the movement of equipment and material according to visual signals and directions.
  • Detect, recognize and respond to dangerous conditions or situations.
  • Perform frequent safety inspections of work area, equipment, tools, and employees in accordance with SIC policy to ensure compliance with government regulations, customer requirements, and SIC’s safety program.
  • Performs other duties as required.
