About the position

Hickok Cole is seeking a Senior Multi-Family Designer based in Richmond, VA, to join their dynamic design practice. The role involves working on hospitality and multifamily residential projects, where the designer will develop strong design concepts, mentor junior designers, and manage the design process from conception to construction documentation. The position offers a hybrid work model and emphasizes creativity, collaboration, and a passion for innovative design.

Responsibilities

  • Develop strong design concepts and accurately document them in design presentations and construction documents.
  • Mentor and lead the design process with junior designers.
  • Work with the Senior Designer to refine design ideas and ensure quality in execution.
  • Manage space planning, FF&E specifications, material selections, and codes compliance.
  • Coordinate with consultants throughout the design and construction administration process.
  • Create high-quality 3D graphic renderings to communicate design intent.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Interior Design.
  • 5-10 years of experience in hospitality and multifamily residential design.
  • Proficiency in Revit, SketchUp, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
  • Strong understanding of construction administration processes in multifamily and large-scale commercial projects.
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills.
  • Valid work permit in the USA.

Nice-to-haves

  • LEED and/or WELL accreditation.
  • Progress towards NCIDQ Certification or Architectural Licensure.
