About the position
The RHEL Administrator position at PRISM is crucial for managing and maintaining the Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) infrastructure. This hybrid remote role requires the candidate to be on-site one day a week in Annapolis Junction, ensuring the smooth operation and security of RHEL-based servers. The role involves system administration, configuration, troubleshooting, and performance optimization, with a strong emphasis on security and documentation.
Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain RHEL-based server infrastructure, including installation, configuration, and patch management.
- Work proficiently with RHEL 7.x and 8.x, performing system administration tasks such as installation, configuration, and maintenance.
- Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement strategies to optimize performance and reliability.
- Perform system backups and recovery processes to ensure high availability and data protection.
- Evaluate and recommend hardware and software solutions to meet business requirements and enhance the RHEL server environment.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
- Perform vulnerability scans using common tools like Tenable and HP WebInspect, investigate security breaches, risks, and attacks, and develop mitigation plans.
Requirements
- Active DoD Secret Clearance
- Proven experience administering RHEL 7.x and 8.x environments.
- Strong knowledge of system administration tasks, including installation, configuration, and maintenance.
- Ability to monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimization strategies.
- Understanding of best practices and experience with vulnerability scanning and incident response.
- Ability to create clear and concise documentation.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Nice-to-haves
- Proficiency in scripting languages like Bash or Python.
- Experience with automation tools for system administration tasks.
- Red Hat Certified System Admin (RHCSA)
