About the position

The Rewards/Compensation Specialist at Baker McKenzie will provide analytical and project management support for the firm's compensation programs. This role involves participating in compensation surveys, analyzing market data, producing reports, and supporting departmental projects to align with the firm's compensation strategy.

Responsibilities

• Provide strong consultative guidance, analysis, reporting, market practices, and clarification of policies to managers.
• Lead the compensation survey process, working with HR colleagues, business leaders, and survey providers to ensure accurate job matches are made.
• Study and analyze market data and trends to assist in the determination of salary and job grades to support the Firm's compensation strategy.
• Produce standard periodic and ad hoc reporting for other functional departments including but not limited to Finance, Technology, Business Development, Inclusion and Diversity, and Professional Services.
• Track key issues, practices, and trends in compensation by participating in industry groups, conducting benchmarking studies, and gathering market intelligence from internal and external recruiters.
• Support the ongoing development of Firm-Wide compensation practices, policies, and processes.
• Collaborate with the recruiting team to develop competitive compensation offers for new hires.
• Support the annual compensation review process of C-Suite executives working with team leadership to ensure accurate and current benchmarking data is available.
• Know and follow the policies and procedures of the Firm, share information that would benefit other members of the team, and find ways to improve the delivery of service to our customers.
• Strive to continually strengthen the Firm's business philosophy of meeting needs and exceeding expectations for customers specifically supporting the team's commitment to service which involves doing what's right for our customers, and focusing on strategies that add value and support growth.
• Maintain and safeguard sensitive and confidential information at all times they have access to.
• Develop solid working relationships with individuals both internally and externally to strengthen the compensation and human resources efforts throughout the Firm.

Requirements

• Education equivalent to a bachelor's degree in business or human resources.
• A good amount of prior experience in compensation analysis with a basic understanding of survey submission procedures and job matching.
• Prior human resource-related work experience in employee relations, benefits, recruiting, and HR systems is preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of PC applications including an advanced understanding of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• A basic understanding of relational databases and human resources management systems is preferred.
• Strong computer typing skills with a high degree of data accuracy.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively in person and over the phone.
• Solid written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate to multiple audiences and purposes.
• Strong appreciation for the retention and management of confidential information.
