About the position
The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the treatment, care, and needs of an assigned group of patients. This role adheres to AdventHealth Orlando Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state, and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. The therapist actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. The position is full-time with a rolling schedule, primarily during the night shift from 1830 to 0700, and is located at either East Orlando or Forest Lake Solaris.
Responsibilities
- Assessing patient needs and developing treatment plans
- Implementing respiratory care procedures and protocols
- Evaluating patient responses to treatment and modifying care plans as necessary
- Maintaining patient airway and managing artificial airways
- Administering oxygen and inhaled medications
- Providing lung expansion and bronchial hygiene support
- Documenting patient care in Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
- Participating in customer service initiatives and maintaining respectful relationships with patients and staff
Requirements
- Associate's degree from a Respiratory Therapy or Cardiopulmonary Science program
- Current, valid state of Florida license as a Registered Respiratory Therapist
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification for specific cost centers
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification for specific cost centers
Nice-to-haves
- Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy or Cardiopulmonary science
- Current PALS and NRP certification for specific cost centers
- Current ACLS certification for specific cost centers
