The Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) in the Irvine Respiratory Care Department is responsible for performing all respiratory care modalities for patients with pulmonary diseases and disorders. This role adheres to all department and hospital licensing, certification, and regulatory requirements. The practitioner will conduct bedside diagnostic tests and assessments to evaluate pulmonary dysfunction, manage and monitor mechanical ventilation and artificial airways, and participate in critical care situations such as cardiac arrest/respiratory arrest code situations and assisting with intubation. A working knowledge of department standard operating procedures, specialized instrumentation, Quality Control, preventive maintenance, specialized equipment, and related computer systems is required. The position also involves projecting professionalism, supporting the department's mission, and participating in continuous quality improvement. Depending on the specific assignment (e.g., Home Health), the role may require travel to patient homes or various Hoag Hospital locations and affiliates. Other duties as assigned.
