About The Position

This position is for a Respiratory Care Practitioner within the Respiratory Care Department at Hoag Hospital Presbyterian in Irvine, California. The role involves performing various respiratory care modalities for patients with pulmonary diseases and disorders, including diagnostic tests, mechanical ventilation management, and assisting in emergency situations. The practitioner must adhere to all department and hospital licensing and certification requirements. There is a requirement for travel between Hoag locations and its affiliates, and potentially to patient homes for home health services. The practitioner is expected to project professionalism and support the department's mission and continuous quality improvement processes.

Requirements

  • Adhering to all department and hospital required license(s), certifications, regulatory agency requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all respiratory care modalities in the treatment of pulmonary disease and disorders, adhering to all department and hospital required license(s), certifications, regulatory agency requirements.
  • Performs bedside diagnostic tests and assessments to evaluate the extent of pulmonary dysfunction.
  • Manages and monitors mechanical ventilation and artificial airways.
  • Participates in cardiac arrest/respiratory arrest code situations and assists with intubation.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of department standard operating procedures, including the use of specialized instrumentation, Quality Control requirements, and preventive maintenance.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of specialized equipment and related computer systems.
  • Projects an image of professionalism in communication, appearance and conduct.
  • Supports the department mission.
  • Participates in the continuous quality improvement process.
  • Position may require travel between various Hoag Hospital (Hoag) locations and its affiliates.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
