About the position

The position involves planning and administering respiratory care functions and duties within a healthcare setting. The role requires effective communication with the healthcare team, documentation of patient care, adherence to quality standards, and efficient time management. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring patient safety and providing care in accordance with established protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and administers assigned respiratory care functions and duties.
  • Communicates patient status and observed changes to the healthcare team.
  • Updates the Individual Plan of Care (IPOC) and Individual Plan of Evaluation and Review (IPER) once per shift.
  • Consults with other departments to provide an interdisciplinary approach to patient needs.
  • Attends patient care rounds and participates in the orientation of new staff/students.
  • Maintains patient records and enters patient charges/credits as directed.
  • Adheres to aseptic technique and universal precautions during care provision.
  • Explains procedures to patients and families prior to administering care and answers questions.
  • Identifies inappropriate care and follows through with recommendations.
  • Completes delegated duties within timeframes and reports to the healthcare team when unable to complete assignments.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a CoARC accredited respiratory therapy program.
  • Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) from the National Board of Respiratory Care - REQUIRED.
  • California Respiratory Care Practitioners (RCP) certification - REQUIRED.
  • AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) certification - REQUIRED.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate's Degree in a related field.
  • 1 Year of Respiratory Care experience.
  • ACLS Certification (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - PREFERRED.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) - PREFERRED.
