About the position

The Registered Nurse (RN) administers nursing care to patients and/or plans, directs and coordinates the nursing care of a group of patients utilizing the nursing process and in collaboration with the healthcare team. The RN instructs patients and/or families in procedures, healthcare practices and continuing care after discharge. The RN performs duties and responsibilities in a manner adhering to all hospital and departmental policies and procedures and in compliance with professional practice standards and the Indiana State Nurse Practice Act. Shifts on this unit are 12 hours for this job description. Associate must be able to work 12 hour shifts to qualify for the position.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates knowledge and technical skill necessary for providing competent, comprehensive and age-specific patient care.
  • Demonstrates leadership abilities including ability to give and follow instructions accurately and the ability to delegate and supervise non-licensed personnel.
  • Serves as a professional role model for others.
  • Demonstrates ability to teach/instruct patients, families and/or colleagues.
  • Demonstrates computer and keyboarding skills necessary to provide a complete and accurate electronic medical record.
  • Functions in a professional manner under stressful or emergency conditions.
  • Utilizes effective verbal, non-verbal and written forms of communication.
  • Works effectively with others consistently demonstrating tact, discretion, diplomacy and a commitment to teamwork and Patients First.
  • This is a casual position and associate will be expected to float to area where need is and perform exceptionally. By nature, hours are not guaranteed in this position.

Requirements
