About The Position

The Auburn Senior Activity Center manages the Auburn Senior Resources Program funded by the King County Veterans, Seniors, and Human Services Levy. This position will be part of that program. For the remainder of 2026, the schedule for this limited hour position will be 20-27 hours/week. Based on the success of the program and numbers of clients serviced, additional grant funding may be available for this position in 2027 and beyond. Under guidance from the Resource Navigation Program Coordinator and City of Auburn Senior Center Manager, the selected individual will be responsible for providing information, assistance, and services for seniors that promote activities that will help to meet their personal, social, behavioral, and emotions needs. This person will exercise some independent judgement and decision making to support and implement programs and projects.

Requirements

  • College-level course work in social work plus two (2) years’ experiences in a human service field, OR combination of education, training, and successful experience that indicates the applicant would successfully complete the primary functions listed above.
  • Knowledge and experience in state and federal information privacy laws including, but not limited to, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) is required.
  • Possess and retain Washington State Driver's License without impending loss at time of appointment and throughout employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Casebook and/or other data management systems is highly desired.
  • Bachelor’s degree is highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Supports and assists Resource Navigation Coordinator in case management, consultation, and crisis management services at the center.
  • When necessary, may make home visits to home-bound seniors who live within the designated (Auburn Senior Center, Pacific Senior Center) boundaries.
  • Supports the documentation and maintenance of all client files, case notes, monthly reports ; supports clients in an accurate and timely manner; supports the interviewing, coordinating, and referral of participants to appropriate resources that have been identified.
  • Assists by advocating for individual seniors at the system level to remove institutional barriers and minimize inequities.
  • Assists in facilitating support and educational groups that responds to the needs of participants.
  • Performs outreach activities within the center and within the boundaries to connect seniors to the community at the center(s) and/or the larger community in which they live.
  • Provides information, assistance, and referrals to seniors and their family members in accessing needed services.
  • Participates in Senior Center events as a part of the overall staff team.
  • Completes typing, data input, filing, and other clerical and office tasks as assigned.
  • Assists in marketing, publicizing, and recruiting senior citizens to the Resource Navigation Program.
  • Maintains safety standards and requirements.
  • Contributes to the development and maintenance of a cohesive staff and volunteer team , works cooperatively with all staff, and shares in operational responsibilities.
  • Demonstrates an eagerness to learn and enhances skills that promote equity and inclusion.
  • Operates a variety of office machinery including, but not limited to, computers, copiers, and facsimile machine.
  • Communicates effectively and professionally in the English language, both verbally and in writing; writes reports and correspondence as needed.
  • Works effectively with individuals of varying backgrounds and service needs.
  • Regular, reliable, and punctual attendance at their designated worksite to support business operations, team goals, and the public.
  • Works effectively under pressure and with frequent interruptions ; is able to prioritize and problem solve individually and with other team members.
  • Completes work and projects in a thorough and timely manner, which may include working with budgets.
  • Understands and follows directions from supervisors, posted work rules, and procedures.
  • Works courteously and effectively with staff members, supervisor, other employees, general public, public officials, and other service providers, both in person, in writing, and over the telephone; assisting them with a wide variety of information.
  • Operates a motor vehicle requiring a standard driver's license.
  • Shows initiative in performing job functions.
  • Attends daytime, evening, and weekend meetings and events as required in the performance of job duties; therefore, adjusted work schedule may be required on certain days.
  • Performs other duties as necessary and/or assigned.
