About The Position

Community Teamwork is a private non-profit organization located in Lowell MA. We employee over 600 employees and are a catalyst for social change. We leverage our programs, our partnerships, and our collective voice to foster equity, compassion, and community engagement by creating housing, education, and economic opportunities. We have an opening for an individual to work in our Shelter Staff program. Residential Counselors are responsible for working closely with clients in a congregate emergency residential shelter site, to provide life skills support to individuals who are staying at the shelter. This position also provides oversight of site operations which include enforcing safety measures, program rules, and expectations using a trauma informed and client centered approach.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent education
• Excellent customer service, organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
• Excellent crisis management skills
• Proficient computer skills in basic computer software and data collection
• Experience working with vulnerable populations
• Good attention to detail

• Bilingual skills (English/Spanish, English/Khmer, English/Portuguese)

Responsibilities

• Assist with screening, intake activities and orientation of new clients into the shelter program
• Provide guidance and information to clients regarding the daily activity schedule, house rules, and policies
• Ability to adhere to and enforce program rules, policies, and procedures
• Oversee security and safety
• Complete housekeeping duties
• Ensure daily chores are completed
• Provide emergency crisis management to individuals
