About the position

The Residential Aide position at Hendee Road House involves providing support to men with severe mental illness transitioning from long-term hospitalization. The role focuses on enhancing the independence and self-efficacy of residents through 24/7 staff support, teaching essential life skills, and facilitating recovery-oriented activities. The Aide will engage in crisis intervention, case management, and collaboration with treatment teams to ensure comprehensive care for the residents.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes appropriate therapeutic models to aid clients in understanding and managing their symptoms in various environments.
  • Conducts program-specific assessments and screens as required by the program.
  • Provides case management and works closely with the client's natural supports and treatment teams.
  • Connects clients to prosocial activities and provides crisis intervention and de-escalation as needed.
  • Demonstrates competency in age-related or specialty issues and developmental needs for each population served.
  • Teaches and supports the learning of skills related to emotion regulation and living in a home-like setting.
  • Plans and actively participates in activities to support and increase skills and competencies.
  • Documents all services and contacts with clients in compliance with agency standards.
  • Transports clients as required by the program.
  • Participates in staff meetings, supervision, training, and other assigned meetings.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Two years' experience working with a relevant population preferred.
  • Must have a valid state driver's license with a good driving record.
  • CPR/First Aid certification within six months of hire.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in mental health or related fields.
  • Knowledge of therapeutic models and crisis intervention techniques.
