About the position

The Residential Aid position involves greeting new clients, assisting with the screening of personal property, and dispensing prepared meals to residents in the shelter. Responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness in designated areas, attending social services and multidisciplinary team meetings, and engaging with clients to provide guidance and support. The role also requires escorting clients to necessary appointments and promoting a smoke-free and drug-free environment.

Responsibilities

• Greet new arriving clients and assist operations in screening personal property.
• Place property in designated areas until properly checked for pests.
• Dispense prepared meals onsite to residents and keep records of meals handed out.
• Dispose of food containers and maintain cleanliness of refrigeration, microwave ovens, and dining common areas.
• Attend social services and multidisciplinary team meetings, providing input as needed.
• Engage clients assigned to the shelter and provide guidance and advice.
• Interact with clients during meal times and recreational activities.
• Promote a smoke-free and drug-free environment.
• Escort and assist clients to Social Security Administration and Housing interviews as needed.

Requirements

• H.S. diploma/GED and Certified Peer Specialist.
• Knowledge of DHS rules and regulations.
• Ability to maintain accurate and timely documentation of activities.
• Basic computer literacy required.
• Must have Food Handler Safety Certification upon hiring.
• Opiate Overdose Prevention Training and ability to administer Naloxone.
• CPR training is a plus or willingness to attain certification.
• Must be able to work alternate shifts and weekends.

Nice-to-haves

• Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
• 2-3 years of outreach work or experience as a peer educator.
