About the position

The Research Scientist position in the Thoracic Head & Neck Med Onc Research department at MD Anderson Cancer Center focuses on analyzing molecular data related to cancer biology. The role involves designing algorithms, exploring multi-dimensional data, and developing innovative approaches to enhance personalized care in oncology. The scientist will work collaboratively with other researchers and technicians, contributing to various scientific projects aimed at understanding tumor behavior and treatment responses.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the design and implementation of algorithms to analyze molecular data and integrate with other data sets.
  • Systematically explore and mine multi-dimensional data to validate experimental findings or formulate new hypotheses.
  • Assist in the generation of tools for manipulating and preparing data for display.
  • Develop innovative mathematical/computational approaches to molecular data analysis.
  • Help maintain, support, and document shared tools, code base, and data sets.
  • Execute and participate in scientific research projects, including single cell analysis of tumor samples and studies of cancer immunotherapies.
  • Train and supervise other personnel in data analysis pipelines and bioinformatic techniques.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in one of the natural sciences or related field.
  • Four years of experience in experimental or scientific work (with a Master's degree).
  • No experience required with a PhD.
  • Two years of experience in experimental or scientific work with a Medical degree.
