About the position

The Outcomes Research Program Manager at Rush University Medical Center is responsible for managing and leading research projects within the Surgery Department. This role involves collaborating with physicians and scientists to produce high-quality research, overseeing data collection and analysis, and ensuring timely completion of studies. The manager will also communicate progress to Principal Investigators and department leadership, exemplifying the mission and values of Rush.

Responsibilities

  • Lead evaluation efforts, including strategy, data collection from electronic health records and other sources, analysis, and reporting research projects.
  • Develop and maintain research databases.
  • Conduct analysis of process and outcome measures.
  • Participate in literature reviews and lead grant writing for external funding of new projects.
  • Produce reports and visualizations of data collected.
  • Present data and formal reports to internal and external stakeholders, including funders.
  • Communicate regularly with program leadership about all aspects of research projects.
  • Develop and maintain research relationships with external agencies and institutions.
  • Interface with Principal Investigators and staff to gather information for operational enhancement.
  • Oversee the timely completion of studies, ensuring all studies are run appropriately.
  • Write Institutional Review Board proposals for assigned projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and minimum 2 years related experience.
  • Strong analytical, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to make independent judgments; self-motivated and effective use of time and resources with limited supervision.
  • Strong project management skills managing complex, multi-faceted projects.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
