About the position
The Research Associate 2 or 3 position at LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans involves planning, assisting, and conducting independent research under the guidance of the Principal Investigator. The role focuses on implementing NIH-funded research studies related to lung cancer screening and smoking cessation, preparing necessary materials for Institutional Review Board (IRB) submissions, and managing participant recruitment and data collection. The Research Associate will also analyze data, draft reports, and contribute to the dissemination of research findings.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the implementation of NIH funded research studies related to lung cancer screening and smoking cessation.
- Prepare Institutional Review Board (IRB) materials.
- Prepare materials for intervention and recruitment of study participants.
- Track and collect participant information and ensure compliance with study protocols.
- Analyze, summarize, and organize collected data with the research team.
- Draft, edit, and revise reports and manuscripts for dissemination of research findings.
Requirements
- Doctoral degree or Master's degree in Public Health, Health Education, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- Strong quantitative data analysis skills.
- Ability to perform intervention research.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to interact with diverse levels of personnel and external stakeholders.
Nice-to-haves
- Fluency in statistical packages such as SAS, R, SPSS, or others.
- Familiarity with REDCap or other online database and survey platforms.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating complex health-related programs or research.
