About The Position

The Department of Chemistry at Texas A&M University is seeking a Research Assistant to support the Hagler Lab's investigations into how RNA interactions influence gene expression in cells using chemical biology approaches. The lab focuses on measuring, predicting, and modulating RNA interactions to advance the understanding of RNA regulation and support the development of therapeutic strategies. In this role, the Research Assistant will be responsible for designing and conducting experiments, analyzing and interpreting data, and contributing to the development of new experimental methods to achieve project goals. The position also involves providing skilled administrative and managerial support, including assisting with research planning and coordinating specific phases of the research project.

Requirements

  • Appropriate Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or biology or a related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or biology.
  • Prior professional/lab experience with cell culture and/or small molecule synthesis.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the design, planning, and coordination of experiments focused on RNA interactions in cells by selecting appropriate methods, maintaining detailed research records, and assisting undergraduate, graduate, and other research staff.
  • Utilizes analysis software, computers, and laboratory or technical equipment to perform data and statistical analyses, evaluate research experiments, and summarize and report findings.
  • Assists with the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of research equipment, and communicates with vendors to procure new equipment and consumable materials for the lab.
  • Assists in preparing and writing funding proposals and manages financial accounts related to research projects.
