About The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented full-time Research Assistant to join a translational vascular biology and kidney disease research laboratory. The successful candidate will participate in ongoing projects focused on chronic kidney disease (CKD), vascular biology, thrombosis, dialysis access dysfunction, and transplantation-related complications. The candidate will work closely with faculty investigators, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and clinical collaborators in a multidisciplinary research environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biomedical Engineering, or related field.
  • Prior hands-on laboratory experience in academic or industry settings required.
  • Experience with basic molecular biology and cell culture techniques required.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to scientific rigor.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with rodent handling and animal protocols preferred.
  • Experience with western blotting and PCR preferred.
  • Familiarity with sterile technique and tissue culture preferred.
  • Experience with image analysis software or statistical tools preferred.
  • Interest in translational biomedical research and pursuing graduate or medical training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with day-to-day laboratory operations and experimental studies, including basic molecular and cell biology techniques.
  • Perform mammalian cell culture and maintenance, cell stimulation and treatment experiments, Western blotting and protein analysis, DNA/RNA extraction and quantification, agarose DNA gel electrophoresis, PCR and qPCR techniques, and immunostaining and microscopy support.
  • Conduct sample preparation and laboratory inventory management.
  • Assist with animal work, including mouse handling and colony maintenance, genotyping and breeding management, assistance with animal procedures and tissue harvesting, record keeping and compliance with IACUC protocols, and monitoring animal health and maintaining accurate colony databases.
  • Perform general laboratory responsibilities such as preparation of reagents and buffers, maintenance of laboratory equipment, organization of laboratory supplies and ordering, and data recording and basic analysis.
  • Assist with manuscript figures, presentations, and laboratory meetings.
  • Support trainees and collaborative projects.
  • Perform sample preparation and submission for assay for human projects.
  • Analyze results and prepare slides for MS preparation.
