About the position

The Research Assistant I position at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center involves conducting routine experiments under the supervision of a principal investigator. Responsibilities

  • Conducts routine tests following established procedures, including assays, DNA sequencing, tissue culture, protein purification, Southern blotting, PCR analysis, electrophoresis, and chromatography.
  • Researches and collects basic study data through monitoring devices and maintains daily logs of methodologies and test results.
  • Summarizes data and interprets results using descriptive statistics and basic hypothesis testing, under supervision.
  • Performs literature searches and library investigations related to the research.
  • Demonstrates routine laboratory tasks to students and other research personnel as needed.
  • Attends Medical Center lectures regarding safety requirements and conditions, as well as courses and conferences to further knowledge of research.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences or related scientific field required.
  • 0-1 years related work experience required.
  • Experience with computer systems, including web-based applications and Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Access).
