Responsibilities

  • Reduce potential environmental risks associated with beef and dairy production and manure use.
  • Participate in all phases of research within a broad area requiring systematic studies.
  • Research the effects of feed additives and ingredients on enteric greenhouse gas emissions by feedlot cattle.
  • Assist in quantifying greenhouse gas and ammonia emissions from feedlot surfaces and soils amended with manure.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship or National status is required.
  • Degree in animal science, dairy science, poultry science, or a related field with specific coursework in biological and agricultural sciences and animal science.
  • At least 10 semester hours in animal science courses related to livestock management and production.
  • Specialized experience in animal nutrition or enteric methane emissions, with a focus on research and data analysis.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a related field.
  • Experience publishing research findings in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
  • Familiarity with greenhouse gas emissions and environmental impacts of cattle production.
