About the position

The Patient Financial Services Representative (PFSR) serves as the first point of contact for patients and guarantors in various healthcare settings. This role is crucial in gathering and verifying demographic, financial, and insurance eligibility information to ensure a smooth patient experience. The PFSR is responsible for explaining policies, verifying insurance benefits, collecting payments, and providing exceptional customer service to address any patient inquiries.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and guarantors in the hospital or medical office setting.
• Explain policies including regulatory and financial consent forms and secure required signatures.
• Verify insurance benefits and confirm coverage is active.
• Determine correct insurance filing order for multiple coverages.
• Obtain pre-certification and authorization for services.
• Provide exceptional customer service and address patient questions and concerns.
• Collect patient out-of-pocket responsibilities per collection guidelines.
• Prepare and balance daily deposits of payment collections.
• Schedule walk-in appointments for services offered.
• Confirm physician and prescription orders for accuracy.
• Interview patients and guarantors to obtain necessary information.
• Perform patient discharge functions including review of after visit summary and future appointment scheduling.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required).
• Excellent communication skills and critical thinking abilities.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment.
• One (1) year of related hospital, medical office, or customer service experience preferred.
